How to?

My google homepage has a feature entitled, "How to of the Day"

This afternoon I decided to be a little more adventurous than usual and clicked the link.

Guess where it took me? Guess what I learned?

Are you ready for this?

Drum roll please!

I learned everything there is to know about how to properly use a bidet.

I kid you not.

Click here if you are even the least bit curious!

A Prayer~part 2

Dear God, I feel the winged beat of my soul against flesh and bone.
Why am I so moribund?
What must I do to soar?

Footprints

Last night the weather forecasters had predicted we would get an inch or two of snow.

Unfortunately for us, all we received was enough freezing rain to turn our city into an over-sized ice rink.

On a lighter note, it was rather funny to see the footprints pictured above which ran up and down the length of our sidewalk. I had to laugh when I saw them.

I laughed because I remember what it was like to embrace the shock of snow and ice and to delight in the stinging awareness that comes when bare skin meets with winter's frozen temperatures. Growing up in Montana, I remember braving the frigid cold and relishing my stinging cheeks and the numb fingers/toes that always accompanied outdoor activities like sledding or ice skating.

Seeing my daughter's footprints etched in the icy frost this morning has helped me to remember that it is possible to find the joy of life running through cold winter winds. Life sometimes requires a certain daring in order that it might be fully lived.

..and sometimes we need only look upon the footprints of youth to rediscover that old daring within ourselves.

Scorned

Last week, as I was picking up my children from their elementary school, I ran into a friend/neighbor who asked if my two girls could accompany both herself and her similarly aged daughters to the park to play and to ride on the carousel.

At the time, I thought this sounded like a marvelous idea. After all, our girls enjoy being together and it's always fun to ride on a carousel horse, right?

Later that afternoon, I was a little surprised to learn that some of the other moms/neighbors had all met up and caravaned to the park together. For some reason, I had assumed that it was just my friend and the girls who were going to the park. I didn't realize that Rhoda, Jennifer, Cassy and Jen would be there too!

I have to tell ya, I felt just a little bit hurt. I mean, c'mon now, why hadn't I been invited?

Then I became angry.

How dare those snooty toot church/neighbor ladies exclude me? Who in the hell do they think they are anyway? Pfft! I know how to whoop it up and have fun too you know. Just ask my real friends. They'll tell you how funny and sweet and wonderful I am.

It's now several days later, and I still I don't know why those ladies chose to exclude me. Maybe it was an oversight? Or maybe I'm not nearly as much fun to be around as I think I am?

...all I know, is that it sucks to be a woman scorned.

It really, really sucks.

Frozen

Well now, I haven't blogged in a long while.

I should be able to update the world on my scintillating life over the next week or so.....

In the meantime, chew on this.

It has been so cold up in my neck of the woods that my liquid Tide laundry soap froze.

Yup, you read that right.

The dang lid was frozen on tight, and I couldn't do the laundry until I had to soaked the Tide bottle in warm water.

I've never had my laundry soap freeze up on me before....it was an altogether unexpected and hilarious surprise to me.

Yeah well, so goes my scintillating life!

More exciting news coming soon!
